FAQ

Questions we're asked.

The questions we hear most often before a first visit. For anything else, call +82-2-318-4479.

Q · 01

Where is Hasuo Gomtang Myeongdong located?

At 47 Myeongdong 8na-gil, Jung District, Seoul — inside the main Myeongdong shopping district. It is about a 5-minute walk from Myeongdong Station (Line 4), 8 minutes from Euljiro 1-ga Station (Line 2) and 7 minutes from Hoehyeon Station (Line 4). On Google Maps, search “Myeongdong Korean Restaurant Hasuo Gomtang” (明洞レストラン ハスオコムタン).

Q · 02

What are the opening hours? Are you open 24 hours?

Yes — Monday to Saturday we are open 24 hours a day. On Sundays we open 00:00–22:00. We do not take days off, so whenever you need a warm bowl of soup in Myeongdong late at night or early in the morning, we are here.

Q · 03

What do you recommend ordering?

For a first visit, gomtang (regular ₩13,000 / special ₩17,000) — our signature slow-simmered beef soup. Beef short rib soup (₩17,000), ginseng chicken soup (₩20,000) and knee cartilage soup (₩17,000) are also popular, and groups tend to share a hot pot such as gamjatang, dumpling hot pot or nakgopsae.

Q · 04

Are there foreign-language menus? Is it comfortable for tourists?

Yes — menus are available in Korean, English, Japanese and Chinese. Myeongdong is Seoul's main tourist district, so international guests are the norm, and we are close enough to Myeongdong Station to drop in between shopping or straight from your hotel.

Q · 05

Can I reserve, or come as a group?

Call +82-2-318-4479 and we will arrange seating for your party size and time. Shareable dishes such as gamjatang, dumpling hot pot, nakgopsae, bulgogi and braised pork trotters make it easy for family gatherings and groups.

Q · 06

How is the gomtang made? What does “Hasuo” mean?

Natural ingredients and precious medicinal herbs are simmered slowly, for hours, without shortcuts. “Hasuo” (何首烏, fo-ti) is a prized herb in traditional Korean medicine — the name reflects our aim to make a bowl as nourishing as a tonic.

Q · 07

Is there parking?

We do not have our own parking lot. Please use one of the public or private car parks around Myeongdong — or, if you can, take the subway (5 minutes on foot from Myeongdong Station, Line 4).
